Police received another eight reports of alleged sightings of missing British 4-year-old Madeleine McCann between Sunday and Monday at 1300CEST. Several of sightings have taken place over a period of weeks, making it difficult for the forces of order to confirm or deny the reports.
In a statement on Monday, Police also denied that investigations have been brought to a halt, as reported in foreign media.

In reports on Sunday one Maltese woman alleged to have seen a girl who looks remarkably similar to the Madeleine McCann on a Gozo Channel vessel last Wednesday. Another woman claimed that between Wednesday and Thursday her partner saw a similar looking girl entering a Mellieħa residence. An English woman told police that she saw a similar-looking child accompanied by a woman in Qawra, while a man said that he might have seen Madeleine McCann being pushed around in a pushchair by a seemingly Muslim woman wearing a veil over her head at the Birkirkara market.

On Monday one woman said that on the 15th June she saw a young who seemed to be blonde wearing a black wig in a supermarket in Sliema. The girl seemed to be alone. Another report alleged that a girl who looks like Madeleine Mc Cann was on a bus heading from Valletta to Buġibba. The child was sitting near a foreign woman. An anonymous person also told Police that a girl believed to be Madeleine was seen around three weeks ago in Cospicua. In a fourth report for Monday, Police were told that the child was seen in a hotel in Qawra however police investigations showed that the indicated girl was not Madeline.

Police have been investigating Madeleine sightings since the 27th May when a Maltese national claimed the girl was seen in Valletta in the company of a man one week earlier.

Madeleine's parents, Kate and Gerry have expressed themselves cautious of the sightings. They have been searching for their daughter ever since she went missing from a holiday apartment in Praia da Luz in the Algarve, Portugal on the 3rd May. It is believed that she was kidnapped. The girl's parents have searched for her in Morocco as well as Portugal. At the end of May they also met with Pope Benedict XVI where they spoke about the girl's disappearance. The couple has also made numerous media appeals in a bid to find the child. are not thinking about the latest sightings in Malta, Sky News.

Madeleine, of Leicester, turned four on the 12th of May.

Several MaltaMedia readers have expressed their hopes that the child is indeed found safe and sound in Malta.

Madeleine’s alleged sightings in Malta also moved the 1992 Maltese Eurovision entry singer, Mary Spiteri to dedicate her entry “Little Child” to the missing girl while participating in a telethon aired by One television on Sunday.

"If the person who is keeping this missing girl in captivity is in Malta and watching us right now on TV, then, may this song touch your heart and let Madeleine return to her parents", said the singer, according to OGAEMALTA.com.
